Once the centre of naval intelligence and operations in Britain - and therefore the world -Somerset House is now centre of skating, fine art-ogling, and very fine dining. The Admiralty is expensive, but for an indulgent treat and particularly to impress a loved one there are few better places. The service is discreet but extremely friendly and attentive, the wine list is comprehensive and fairly priced, and the food is a delight with a seasonal & well conceived menu. And when the food arrives, Admiralty gives you a reason to admire. Housed in Somerset House, this place is for those who don't mind spending serious bucks. The menu - Salmon and Scallop Terrine, Citrus Dressing and Baby Cress Salad, Wing of Cornish Skate, Capers, Beurre Noir and Braised Fennel, Rump of Cornish Lamb with Dauphinoise Potato, Flageolet Beans, Herb Jus , and Rhubarb Crumble with Crème Anglaise - has won great reviews, and deservedly so. A truly fantastic dining experience.
