Geales
2 Farmer Street
London
W8 7SN
When Geales opened in Notting Hill Gate in 1939, it was a local, family-run fish & chip shop. Now it is a restaurant owned by Mark Fuller of the Embassy club in Old Burlington Street with the menu overseen - and currently cooked - by Michelin-starred chef Garry Hollihead. Set in the prettiest corner of Notting Hill, Geales Restaurant has an understated but elegant décor with starched white tablecloths and polished cutlery. The menu boasts both the original staples as well as a new range of simple favourites: fish soup, grilled lobster with herb butter and chips, salmon and haddock fish cakes and the classic Geales fish and chips. And if that isn't enough, the dessert menu contains classics such as jam roly-poly and rice pudding with strawberry jam and trifle. Geales even offers old time chip shop classic drinks including ginger beer, dandelion & burdock and cream soda, so both adults old enough to remember & certainly the kids, will be more than happy. Geales restaurant is a great new addition to the Notting Hill restaurant scene, even though the restaurant has been frying delicious fish & chips since 1939. A great restaurant for a leisurely lunch or wonderful supper, but it does get busy, so booking in advance is highly advised.
