Andaman is a discreet and elegant restaurant, set inside a former gentlemen's club in the St James Hotel between Green Park and Pall Mall. New owners the Althoff group completed an 18-month refurbishment of the site before transplanting executive chef Dieter Muller from Schlosshotel Lerbach near Cologne, where he holds three Michelin stars. Inside, the feel is modern European with Asian overtones – an apt backdrop for fine-tuned eclectic cooking that peaks with tasting menus inspired by Marco Polo’s spice route. Signature dishes from Andaman's stunning modern Mediterranean menu include deep fried scampi with pea purée and papaya-chilli vinaigrette; lamb chops with red pepper jam, courgette and garlic foam; and gratinated sea bass with black pudding, potatoes, leek and violet mustard sauce. Finish with a dark, decadent mousse of Valrhona chocolate & peanut toffee with a salty cracknel of cocoa beans & caramel ice cream and we're sure you'll be more than satisfied. Andaman is a first rate London restaurant experience and is currently still quite undiscovered. However word is spreading fast about this superb new restaurant so it's worth booking now before it's too popular and getting a good table becomes almost impossible.
